HOLOGRAMS (2014-2015)

Relationship Advice For Holograms (2015).

The works I refer to as the Holograms series deals largely with the relationship between the real and the virtual, and reexamines many of the discussions taking place during the 1990s when the internet became increasingly a part of mainstream culture.

HOLOGRAM DIALOGUE (SKELETONS) (2015)

Two holographic skeletons reconcile their relationship to each other and to the surrounding recreational park that purportedly adapts itself to suit its inhabitants. Inspired by the stark existentialism and humor of playwrights such as Samuel Beckett and Will Eno, the artist plays at the banal pursuit of instant gratification while addressing communion at the edge of the void.

Skeletons are voiced by Michelle Temple and Matt O'Hare.

RELATIONSHIP ADVICE FOR HOLOGRAMS AND THE NON-HOLOGRAPHIC PEOPLE WHO LOVE THEM (2015)

Relationship Advice for Holograms imagines a future where a trans-domain holosexual community of "real" people date holographic people (and vice versa). Inspired by my own experiences with online dating.

HOLOGRAMS (INTERFERENCE PATTERNS) (2014)

The digital print series I also titled Holograms takes its inspiration from the laser-inscribing process of making holographic images. For this series, the human form is recreated from an initial digital photo via a "constructive interference pattern." Not disimilar from a moire pattern, the image-processing algorithm I developed takes a source image and smears it across one axis and then another. The two resulting images are combined to form the final result.
