WE THE NEW COMMUNITY (2016)

We The New Community is an experimental theatre piece that revisits the science-fiction inspired theology of fringe religious groups such as Heaven’s Gate and Scientology, projecting the technological optimism of the late 1990s into a not-too-distant future.

Through a series of monologues, songs, and video, WTNC examines the thorny relationship between media technology and the power of belief.

The workshop production of We The New Community took place at the Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center (EMPAC) in Troy, New York on May 7 2016. The cast included Utthara Rameshbabu, Maureen Anderson, Jane Thibeault, myself, and Amanda Gallo.

CHANT FOR THE CULT OF THE NEW REAL (2015)

"Chant for the Cult of the New Real" is one of the first songs I created during the development of We The New Community.

While the song would ultimately change for the EMPAC performance, the aesthetic choice of shifting between virtual digital environments --- as seen here --- would remain a recurring theme.
